Last week the city council voted 22-15 to oppose the undemocratic, non-transparent and obscene Tesla Tunnel. Working people of Nashville know that this billionaire vanity project is an attempt to privatize parts of our transit system, to make profits for the richest man in the world. This will undoubtedly hurt the livelihoods of ride share drivers, but it is also an attempt to further normalize the gentrification process that is happening throughout the city. 

The tunnel is an effort to prop up property values for rich developers downtown while only serving to increase the burden and costs of living in our city for all of us. 

While we appreciate the efforts of the council we also insist that symbolic opposition is not enough. We need proactive strategies. We need to demonstrate that the working people of Nashville are joined to gather to oppose more giveaways to billionaires. Enough is enough.
